This is my much loved Westerly Tiger (Gillinda) I bought her from the original owner who was retiring from boating. Gillinda had provided him and his family with very many years of wonderful sailing and joy. Interestingly he owned a fibreglass company...hence the fibreglass laminate spray hood. He had upgraded her with a new Yanmar 3GM30 (28hp) which is great as she now has the power to punch through tides when required. He also fitted a solid fuel stove which is handy for using her in winter. Other upgrades include 3 batteries and a battery charger...new Jabsco sea toilet (2012)...bespoke console with Yanmar engine panel, Pioneer CD/Radio and the VHF...and a 16" Digital TV DVD Combo...plus a GPS Garmin 128...and 4 x fire extinguishers. She even has the original brochure and crockery.
The Westerly Tiger is a classic Designed by John Butler and they were built to Westerly's high standards, much heavier built than some new yachts of similar size sold today.
Gillinda is a beamy boat, has great interior space, a well ballasted fin keel and 4' 3" draught gives good performance. Re-engined with a 28hp Yanmar she makes for a good cruising family craft.
