Background.
We are auto electricians, and we bought this car a 18 months ago at the start of our business partnership. We were specifically looking for a blue Saab estate, and found this one, in good condition, except for a few niggles. We fixed the niggles (gas struts gone, in limp mode, rusty fuel filler cap etc) and ran it about.
It's been a great car for the time we have used it. I have done a good few trips from here in South Wales to Leicester, Swansea, and other places, and it's been fast, powerful, roomy and comfy. It's also consistently done about 45 mpg, so pretty economical as well.
About a 9 months ago, we put 4 new tires on it, an since then it's done about 1500 miles tops. So it has a matched set of almost new Kuhmo tyres to. We're only selling it because we need to swap our Laguna saloon, and Saab estate, for a Laguna estate, as we need to use this as a test bed for the handbrake service we offer (see our other ads). May consider a swap if yours has an electric handbrake. (Nothing else though other than a Laguna estate)
Good Points.
Runs well, with good power / performance / economy. Does about 45 mpg, and goes well. Wouldn't have any doubts about driving to Timbuktu if required.
Excellent condition for the age of the car, the paintwork is bright and clear, and no significant rust or damage.
No oil in the water or vice versa, and uses neither.
4 good tyres.
2 keys, 1 remote doesn't work on 1 key. Not checked but suspect the key battery.
Long MOT (mid October)
Been serviced every 5k miles in our tenure. Has been serviced well before we had it, but we have managed to loose the paperwork. We did notice the fitting of a new clutch before we bought it, and that holds true, the clutch is great.
We have cleaned the inlet manifold of soot, and replaced the boot struts, plus a few other small jobs.
Interior in good condition, no rips or tears, and is comfy and although slightly "olde worlde" is pleasant enough, and pretty ergonomic. It's better screwed together than later edition saabs that's for sure.
Big roomy boot, with a cover.
Bit of an old fashioned diesel - no dual mass flywheel, fancy injectors, everything is built well, and built to last.
Bad Points.
Missing service records and history. We were handed it when we bought it, and have since lost it. Frustratingly.
Bit bouncy on the front.
Handbrake is a bit high
Filler cap is a different colour blue.
Will prob need pads and discs on the front in the nearish future.
Air con not working, and not diagnosed. No obvious defects.
