Classic 1972 VW Beetle 1302 S - original low mileage example
Description
VW Beetle 1302S - Date registered 24 March 1972 - K Reg
We have owned our lovely bright yellow VW Beetle since June 2015 when she was purchased from a local Norfolk Classic car dealer. We are it’s 4th owner and in that time it has only covered just under 23,000 miles which we believe to be genuine and has lots of paperwork to back up it’s history.
Bought on a bit of a whim - the Beetle was intended for use by one of our Mum’s who had owned 4 original Beetle’s in her driving history and wanted another. Spotting this one online and seeing it in the flesh we had no hesitation buying it. However, when Mum tried driving it (now in her senior years) it was obvious that this stunning Beetle wasn’t the car for her (her current Fiesta automatic is far easier!) so we brought the Beetle home to use ourselves.
Already owning a classic VW camper we loved the Beetle and intended to use it - however, work and life have rather got in the way and since owning it have done under 1000 miles. With no change to our circumstances anytime soon we feel it’s time to let the Beetle go to someone who has time to get it out and enjoy.
Being the 1302S model the Beetle pulls well and sits at 50/60 MPH with no issues at all and feels very good on the road. The vehicle has had a few jobs done to it for MOT’s but other than those small jobs we have done nothing to the car. The car has a quad exhaust fitted (already on when we purchased the car) in all honesty to keep the car original it would be possible to have these changed back to the standard twin.
Bodywork wise the Beetle is very tidy - yes there are the odd little things - the bottom of the passenger door has some bubbles showing and the bonnet has some crazing on the paintwork. If we were to keep the vehicle we would have these done. We’ve had VW heritage mudflats fitted all round.
The interior of the Beetle can only be described as being ‘as new’ the standard black seats are all perfect with no tears, all carpets are spotless and the headlining shows no sagging. The radio (which we believe is original) looks great but there is an issue with it and would need investigation, however we’ve just enjoyed listening to the engine on the few times we’ve used the car. It still has the standard fitted seatbelt’s and we didn’t change them as we felt the car should be kept as original as possible.
In summary if you’re looking for a classic VW Beetle in a nice and bright Yellow (which will always make you smile) with an exceptional low mileage this is the car.
