BMW E36 328i Sport Coupe, Calypso Red.

I purchased this car on the 28th March after considerable time spent trying to find a genuine original (if not perfect) example. My intention was to restore it back to full health while keeping it completely original. Unfortunately life had other plans and I have now moved overseas for work.

As can be seen from the pictures, the car has the common rust issue on the rear arches and boot lip. There is also a bubble on the front right arch, two scratches on the front bumper and the black paint has partially come away from the offside wing mirror. The car was booked in to a highly recommended body shop for this work to be done when my change of circumstance forced me to cancel. I'm happy to provide details of the quoted cost if anyone's interested.

After purchasing the car I replaced the waterpump (Hepu), thermostat (Wahler) and its housing (OEM BMW composite - too many reports of poor quality/fitting aluminum ones for me), WP pulley (OEM BMW) and belt, full coolant flush and refill with correct G48 coolant. Pics and receipts to prove the above. I've also had the windscreen replaced due to a crack, one of the headlights for the same reason, and a new OEM BMW roundel for the boot. Other recent maintenance is listed below.

PRO's:
- Completely original Calypso Red Sport Coupe.
- BMW stamped service history until 123K miles with considerable invoices subsequently.
- Immaculate interior.
- 3 previous owners
- New (within last 6 months): clutch, viscous fan clutch, cam shaft sensor, brake pads, brake pad wear sensor, MAF sensor, air and oil filter and oil change, spark plugs, cooling system as outlined above. Less recently both rear coil springs and brake pipes have been replaced with OEM BMW parts. Receipts to prove all of the above work and much more dating back further.
- Replacement steel bore liners (can prove with pictures if desired), - no Nikasil related concerns.
- Engine starts, idles and revs absolutely perfectly with zero issues.
- Gearbox feels like brand new. Zero issues also.
- Good tyres all round.
- 3 X keys plus remote fob.

CONS:
- Rust as described above.
- Left window U/S but motor is working I believe.
- Both front fog lights U/S. I haven't looked into why.
- Left door lock doesn't respond to remote key fob. Key works fine.
- Front left seat recline mechanism not working.

Summary:
I am genuinely smitten with this car. It drives wonderfully with a sublime sounding engine, a beautifully tight gearbox and incredible steering response. It's a very regretful sale.

I have been open and honest with its description; it does require a few minor repairs that are within the capabilities of someone with basic maintenance skills, and it needs some professional respraying if the desire is to return it to its former glory, which it would really justify.

The car has been left in the care of my father. Test drives welcome with proof of comprehensive insurance.
